St. Benedict MedalsSt Benedict is the patron saint of kidney disease, poison sufferers, and students. Our highly detailed St. Benedict Jubilee Medal crafted from solid 14K gold. Born of Roman nobility, St. Benedict was the twin brother of Saint Scholastica. Quickly frustrated with the lack of discipline on the part of the other students, St. Benedict moved to a cave near Subiaco where he remained a hermit for three years. St. Benedict later founded the monastery in Monte Cassino; and it was there that he produced the Rule of the Benedictine Order, which was to become the basis of rule for all western monasteries. St Benedict was often despised by fellow monks. It was reported that an attempt was made on the life of St. Benedict by poisoning, but he blessed the cup and removed the poison. St. Benedict founded 12 monasteries. Most monasteries in the Middle Ages were of the Benedictine order. |
