St. Nicholas is the Patron Saint of bakers, brewers, brides, children, merchants, pawnbrokers and travelers.
As a young man, St. Nicholas saved the life of a young sailor who had fallen from the ship’s rigging during a storm.
It is said that the bones of St. Nicholas emit a liquid, known as Manna, each year. A flask of this clear, watery liquid is taken every year on December 6 (St. Nicholas Day).
