St. Blaise Medals

Saint Blaise is the patron saint of throat ailments, veterinarians, and wild animals.

While St Blaise was the bishop of Sabastea, he decided to hide from what have been certain martyrdom in a cave. It just so happened that this cave was inhabited by wild animals whom he cared for in exchange for them sharing their shelter with him.

It is said that Saint Blaise, at the appeal of a local woman, convinced a wolf to return a pig that it had stolen unharmed. Another story tells of how St Blaise saved a young man by helpng to remove a fish bone from his throat.
